Michigan League (Friday & Saturday Conference Site)

Michigan League (Friday & Saturday Conference Site)

Check-in begins at 8am in the Michigan League lobby located at the main entrance on the west side of the building, where the fountain is (pictured here). If you are dropped off by car, you’ll likely enter the south entrance off of N. University. We’ll have signs guiding you toward check-in.

Breakfast & Exhibitors

Continental breakfast runs from 8am-9am on the second floor Concourse. The Concourse also hosts our exhibitors area throughout the conference, as well as our Poster Session Friday at 2:15pm. Posters will remain up for viewing after the poster session.

Conference Sessions, PlenAry, & Lunch

In addition to being in rooms in the Michigan League, conference sessions take place in the adjacent University of Michigan Alumni Center. To reach the Alumni Center exit the north side of the League and cross the courtyard. Signs will be in place to guide you.

Friday’s lunch and Plenary Session are held in the Ballroom on the second floor of the League. If you are dining out, you might want to walk west from the League down N. University towards the State St./E. Liberty area. Check our Ann Arbor Guide for a few recommendations.

End of Day

Graduate students are invited to the WAC-GO Reception at the Slurping Turtle on E Liberty St. Otherwise, you can grab a beer or glass of wine at the Summerfest acoustic Grove stage at 5pm (fenced area right across Ingall’s Mall from the League’s west entrance). It gets louder at 7pm with blues on the mainstage, followed by latin bands at 8:30 & 10pm.

Consider a walk through the Nichol’s Arboretum (“The Arb”) down to the Huron River. The walk is about a mile to the Arb entrance (3-4 miles depending on how much you explore), so sensible footwear and water may be in order. Arbor Bike rental is also an option for exploring campus with the wind in your hair.

state-theaterIf you are headed downtown to explore, a good course of action is to start at the intersection of State St./E Liberty, marked by the State Theatre marquee, and make your way down E Liberty towards Main St. Most shops and restaurants are on or a few blocks off of E Liberty. Main St. is densely packed with bars, restaurants, and shopping.

We invite you to try as many local spots as you can! We’re sure you’ll love the vibrant atmosphere of downtown Ann Arbor.
